Het werd tijd dat deze quilt weer aandacht krijgt. Blok 8 is in de maak, in de trein.
It was about time that this quilt got some attention. Block 8 is the one I am working on, in the train.

Beker-mug

Ik kreeg te horen dat niet goed te zien was wat er op de beker stond. Hij is zó leuk dat ik 'm even apart laat zien. DD heeft hem laten maken, want zo vind je ze natuurlijk niet in de winkel!!

De 'Queen' met thee-ei vond ik in een winkeltje in Londen, waar we een weekendje waren om DD te bezoeken. Hilarisch :-)

Some people mentioned that you couldn't see what was on the mug. It is so much fun that I show it seperately. DD had it made for me, because you can't buy them in the shop like that. 

I found the 'Queen' egg in a little shop in London, where we visited DD last weekend. 

Party!

Dat is een leuk cadeautje! Dat ga ik zeker doen;-)! That is a nice present. I will absolutely do that ;-)!

Fans in Amsterdam!

De 'fans' in Amsterdam: twee kapiteins van de rondvaartboten houden op mijn verzoek de quilt vast met op de achtergrond het 'Centraal Station'. Ik zag dat ze stonden te kletsen en dacht: nee heb ik, ja kan ik krijgen :-)! Het leek me zo'n leuk plaatje! In het boek van Kathy staat de quilt in de Australische Bush, nu in hartje Amsterdam. Groter contrast kun je haast niet hebben!

En die ene schipper...nee, die wou niet op de foto ;-)

The 'fans' in Amsterdam: two captains of the canal boats holding the quilt on my request, with the Central Station in the background. I saw them chatting with eachother and thought it might make a nice picture. Why not asking?! In Kathy's book the quilt is photographed in the Australian bush, now in the centre of Amsterdam. Is there a bigger contrast?

And the captain on the left...no - he didn't want to be in the picture ;-)

Post! Package!

Bij thuiskomst vanmiddag ligt er een kaartje in de brievenbus: er is een pakje afgeleverd bij de buren. Ik kan me niet herinneren dat ik iets besteld heb...DH ook niet. Hmmm...

Als ik het pakje ophaal weet ik het meteen! Wat leuk!

When I came home, I found a card in the mail that a package was delivered. I could not think of anything that I ordered..neither did DH..hmm..what could it be..

When I went to my neighbours and saw the parcel I was excited and new right away!

Een tijdje geleden kwam Daniella uit Brazilië in de winkel. We hadden een heel leuk gesprek over stoffen- ze gaf ons een zelfgemaakt kussentje. en ik vroeg haar (uiteraard tegen betaling!) of zij mij een stukje 'chita' wilde sturen. Ik had dat wel eens gezien maar ik kon het maar moeilijk vinden.

Some time ago Daniella from Brazil came to the shop and we had a very pleasant conversation about fabric. She made us a pillow. I asked her (ofcourse I payed her!!) if she would send me a little piece of 'chita'. I had seen that before but I found it very difficult to get.

'Chita' is Braziliaanse stof. Felle kleuren, op los geweven stof, het lijkt een beetje canvas achtig maar het is heel dun. Nou, dit is wel wat meer dan een 'stukje'...Ontzettend leuk!!

'Chita' is Brazilian fabric. Bright prints, on a loose woven fabric. It looks like canvas but it is very thin. Well, this is a bit more than 'a little piece' - fantastic!

Souvenirs

We zijn weer terug van vakantie en het was heerlijk, met dat mooie weer. Helaas was er ook droevig nieuws: onze buurt heeft een hele fijne, lieve buurman als gevolg van een auto ongeluk op veel te jonge leeftijd moeten wegbrengen. We zijn er allemaal door aangeslagen.

Het brengt je weer even met de beide benen op de grond. Waar draait het nou allemaal om in je leven.

Geniet van wat je hebt en leef elke dag alsof het je laatste is. 

Ik heb daarom tijdens de vakantie rust genomen  en me niet laten opjagen door alles wat ik meegenomen had. En ik had veel bij me hoor ;-)! Ik heb alleen aan de 'fans' gewerkt, zodat ik die in de komende tijd in elkaar kan zetten. En de rest...het komt wel. Zoals Petra altijd zegt: voor alles is een tijd.

We are back from hollidays and we had a great time with this nice weather overhere. Unfortunately we had sad news. Our neighbourhood lost a very gentle and caring neighbour due to a car accident. We are all very sad about it. It makes you realize what life is all about. Enjoy what you have and live like every day is your last.

I therefore took rest and did not hurry. I brought a lot with me, had a lot of plans ;-), but I only worked on the 'fans' so that I can finish it in the next few weeks. And all the other things..it will be done in time. As Petra always says: there is a time for everything.
